This one is mostly a maintenance release, plus one new function: sync current file only.
Primarily, it addresses the Windows CPU load issues introduced in version 1.5 with the new MIDI functionality. Eager to hear from you Windows users if this works better for you now!
The added new function allows you to only synchronize the current file in Song View on mobile devices (Android, iOS) – may be useful during editing sessions when working on a file and not wanting to go through a full sync every time you make a minor change to chords or lyrics.
To sync the current file, press and hold the song name until a small pop-up menu appears “Sync this file”. Tapping this will start a reduced sync process that only updates the current file and re-loads it.
Note 1: I have made this function a bit difficult to get to for a reason – since this can block operations for a while, you don’t want to trigger it accidentally during a gig. And it is mostly for advanced users – see next note.
Note 2: a word of caution – to keep the time required to execute the sync short, LivePrompter will NOT re-build the database with the single-file sync. So any changes you make to metadata (e.g. artist, title, color, energy, book) will not be reflected in lists – for this to actually be shown, you’ll need to do a full sync (which will completely re-build the LivePrompter database). So use this feature with caution and be sure to do a full sync on a regular basis!
Note 3: on Windows / macOS, this function isn’t needed – all you need to do for a re-load of the current song is hit the “reset” button – there is no Dropbox sync on the desktop. That’s why LivePrompter won’t react to click-and-hold of the song title on desktop platforms…
Android and iOS versions will be distributed through the usual app stores; Windows and macOS users can head over to the Download page to get the update.
Have fun!
